♦ What is ENIG PCBA?

ENIG PCBA is the term for a printed-circuit board assembly whose bare board was finished with ENIG—Electroless Nickel Immersion Gold.
In other words, the PCB itself (before components are placed) receives a two-layer metallic coating:
3–6 µm of electroless-nickel plated directly on the copper pads to act as a diffusion barrier and solderable surface.
0.05–0.15 µm of immersion-gold deposited on top of the nickel to prevent oxidation and maintain a very flat, wire-bondable/solderable surface
.
Because the finish is extremely planar and corrosion-resistant, ENIG PCBA is common in high-reliability products such as smartphones, aerospace, medical and telecom equipment.
